This annual event hosted by John and Rose Randle and Patrick Randle is an amazing afternoon of books, prints, cards, paper, posters and fun. Held in the yard of the Whittington Press--with additional activities throughout the print shop.
It is often the only taste of summer a Northerner printer can get and it is always a good time, even when the pouring rain reminds us that Autumn is ahead and we huddle under tents, shelters, gazebos and what not. Bookish events somehow transcend the weather. We would argue that it is the highlight of the summer and one of the last true private press fairs.
After you have been sated with books and prints, wander down the road to the Whittington Summer Fete where the dog show competes with the tea for fun. Flowers, veggies and cakes are for sale and/or for judging and to top it all the lovely Whittington Court is usually open for tours. Plenty of parking right across the street. All and all it is unmissable.
