Hand-made books for the collector who reads and the reader who collects

We are pleased to announce our publication of

Edward Lear's
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat

Illustrated with linocuts by Pippa Kate Bridle after the original line drawings.Colour has been added using stencils by Bill Severson.

This is the third in our occasional series of cat poems used to display newly made metal type. This time it is ATF 18 pt Bulmer cast by Theo Rehak at the Dale Guild Type Foundry of New Jersey.

The title page also uses Venetian Outline with a smattering of Eric Gill's ornaments. 200gsm Velin Arches paper shows both type and linocuts to their best advantage.

This is a single section book, 11 by 8 inches, printed in an edition of 180 numbered copies. Hand bound at the Press with a cloth spine and paste paper over board sides. The first 150 copies were bound in a Bill Severson paste paper inspired by peas and the pea-green sea. When we asked Victorian Hall to send us a paste-paper that was suitable for the final thirty copies she told us she had "just the thing"--we think you'll agree!
