The Amazing Miss Brooke and other essays
written and illustrated by Gunnar Brusewitz

[magpie]Gunnar Brusewitz made a name for himself in Sweden as a writer, illustrator, artist, naturalist and traveler, and his vision of the Swedish landscape was definitive for an entire generation of Swedes. Whether drawing the undulating agricultural landscape of the southern-most counties, the forests, lakes and hills of the mid-country, or the bare beauty of the mountains of Lapland, his natural eye for small details bring a scene to life. These seven essays show him both at home and abroad, but always alive to the natural world around him: plants, animals and people.

This was the first book printed in the Printer Street workshop. It was set in Garamond and printed on the Arab platen press. The book has four sections, a total of 54 pages and 20 line drawings. Of an edition of 250 copies, fifty specials were printed on Barcham Green handmade paper and include a postage stamp illustrated by Gunnar Brusewitz (the special edition has sold out). 175 copies were printed on Lana Royal Crown paper. All copies are bound in cloth with printed endpapers; specials and subscribers' copies include a slipcase.
